BUYING AND OWNING A PONY

BUYING

Ponies for sale are listed on this website and on our facebook page where members and owners will be pleased to answer your questions.

Moor bred foals are available in the Autumn following the annual gatherings and a list of breeders is available from the Secretary (secretary(at)exmoorponysociety.org.uk).

OWNING

Know your responsibilities:

Read our leaflet about your legal responsibilities.

Change of Registered Keeper (Loan)

If your pony is going out on loan then a 'Loan Form' must be completed and returned to the Society.

Change of Ownership (Transfer)

The passport should be returned to the Society’s offices within 30 days of purchase of the pony so that the change of ownership can be recorded in the passport and on the database in accordance with current legislation.

Please send the passport together with the completed 'Transfer of Ownership' and a cheque for £15 made payable to the Exmoor Pony Society to cover the transfer fee.

The Society endeavours to return passports within 5 working days.

If you do not have a completed 'Transfer of Ownership' then please provide a copy of the bill of sale and/or details of person from whom you purchased the pony if not the last name recorded in the passport and your own details.

Lost Passports

If you lose your passport then please complete the 'Lost Passport Declaration' form and return it to the Exmoor Pony Society.  We will then provide you with the appropriate paperwork for a duplicate/replacement passport to be issued.

Death of a Pony

Upon the death of a pony the passport should be returned to the Society.  Once the passport has been cancelled then we are in a position to return the passport to you – please provide a strong self-addressed envelope size about 9 x 6 stamped with the new 2nd Class Large stamp.
